FOX NEWS is Bad Acid
03:16
|
|||
Fox News is bad acid
Distorts reality then highjacks it
Better not take high doses
You might come down with a serious psychosis
This ingestion won’t enlighten
More likely to frighten
Hallucinations of home invasions
Perpetrated by non-Caucasians
You might hear little voices tell you
Radical socialists are coming to get you
They’re gonna kill your papa and inseminate your daughter, you got
Nowhere to run, and they took away your guns
Fox News is bad acid
Distorts reality then highjacks it
Better not take high doses
You’re liable to come down with a serious psychosis
I watched and listened and my pupils dilated
I saw the future and really hated it
I’m sinking in a terrifying sea of
People who don’t talk or think like me
Turn on
No, no, better turn it off
Tune in
No, no, no let’s tune into something else
Drop out
Sure go ahead, but watch out where you land
Some people who look groovy are really very bad
Fox News is bad acid
Distorts reality then highjacks it
Better not take high doses
You’re liable to come down with a serious psychosis
Fox News is bad, bad acid

Spring Tango
03:48
|
|||
Shout hooray for the Spring
Juices flowing through every being
Buds popping on the lilac tree
Birds chirping sweet cacophony
‘Twas the winter of the soul
In the thrall of moles and trolls
Let the sun drive them underground
To be lost in their tunnels and never found
Sing praise for the Spring
Juices flowing through every being
A whisper of clouds above
The planet’s creatures making love
‘Twas the winter of the mind
Truth caught in a rip tide
We’re coming up for air
But the jellyfish are still under there
When the earth leans in our favour
‘Tis the season we need to savour
So we can nestle warm in those memories
When winter assails us with its deepest freeze
Sing praise for the Spring
Juices flowing through every being
We take an evening stroll
So far, no sign of trolls
'Twas the winter of the heart
Lost in the deepest dark
Maybe this time we’ll find our way
Sorry that I can’t really say
When the earth leans in our favour
‘Tis the season we need to savour
To give us courage and strength to prevail
When vengeful winter storms return to assail us
Sing praise for the Spring

What Kind Of Angel
03:38
|
|||
I sit in the light at the edge of the morning
Just as the birds remember to sing
And I ponder the passing of time
And what happens when we die
What if there’s really such place as heaven
And what if you’re good enough to go there
Would you be lost to the world forever
Or could you hear our prayers
What kind of angel wings would you want to wear
A guardian angel might help you not to stub your toe
A ministering angel might lift you when you’re heavy with woe
An avenging angel smites those who do wicked deeds
The angel of death visits judgement upon those who prey on innocent beings
So what kind of angel would you want to be
I love to behold our child in the morning
Just as she grows into her dreams
And I hear the songs she might sing
Then I fear what the world might bring her
What if there’s really such place as heaven
And what if you’re good enough to go there
Could you save her from evil intention
Could you keep her from despair
What kind of angel wings would you want to wear
A guardian angel might help you not to stub your toe
A ministering angel might lift you when you’re heavy with woe
An avenging angel smites those who do wicked deeds
The angel of death visits judgement upon those who prey on innocent beings
So what kind of angel would you want to be
But what of the angel who helps us be better
Helps us to know what we should do
Oh my sweet dear, I have to wonder
Could that angel be you

Forgiveness Waltz
04:26
|
|||
Some hearts grow to care for more than they can bear
Some hearts grow so cold they are best left alone
One freezes and another heart tears
This is a love song we cling to
There are minds made so small they don’t wonder at all
and their freedom from doubt says they’ve figured it out
So we follow their big bouncing balls
This is a lesson we sleep through
Are you sorry, can you forgive me
Let all be forgiven for Auld Lang Syne
If you’re sorry, and you forgive me
we’ll swear to be better next time
While the ocean tides rise and the orchards crack dry
the landlords build homes with walls high on the hills
and the orphans of the virus abide
These are some fences we’ve mended
And we wring our hands and pray
as we lurch past the graves
There are too many souls lost in so many holes
and we choose who will be saved
This is a judgement we render
Are you sorry, can you forgive me
Let all be forgiven for Auld Lang Syne
If you’re sorry, and you forgive me
we’ll swear to be better next time
There are secrets I hold that will never be told
No not even to you though you might want me to
Sometimes some bits are best left unknown
This is a meaning for lonesome
And though I can’t get this right
will you stay through the night
Forgive what I can’t say and love me anyway
When the ghosts come will you hold me tight
We are our hope for atonement
Are you sorry, can you forgive me
Let all be forgiven for Auld Lang Syne
If you’re sorry, and you forgive me
we’ll swear to be better next time
We'll swear to be better next time

Fiefdom
03:40
|
|||
Some Americans have come to believe
life would be great in a fiefdom
where the lords have their way with fetching ladies, have
bloodhounds and servants to feed them
A fiefdom needs a fearsome leader who can
raise an army when he needs to
so the lords are safe to feast and conspire as their
mounds of gold grow ever higher
And the peasant knows where he fits
The soldier knows where he fits
And they all get just enough so to fear
they could lose what little bits they’ve got
The castle has walls thick and tall and a
moat deep and wide
The drawbridge can go up and down unless they’re too
scared to let a stranger inside
The black death is ever a threat and the
priests say it’s ever god’s will
The mead is sweet and helps one to forget and the
serf falls into debt to pay his bill
And the scullery drudge knows where she fits
The midwife knows where she fits
And they all get just enough so to fear
they could lose what little bits they’ve got
Some Americans have come to believe
life would be great in a fiefdom
where the lords can lie about anything and the
peasants are keen to believe them
When the black death takes its toll, they
burn a witch or two at the stake
The priests say it’s ever god’s will
The lords giveth and the lords take
And the jester knows where he fits
The gravedigger knows where he fits
And they all get just enough so to fear
they could lose what little bits they’ve got
When the serfs are steeped in misery
they find a dead horse to beat on
Like a dog barking up the wrong tree
that’s life in the fiefdom
But we live in Canada, and as
Frank Zappa said, it can’t happen here.
This is Canada
Don’t want no fiefdom ‘round here

Be My Rebel
04:10
|
|||
I remember this music
Loved it then, love it now even more
Love how it moves me
Ooh-sha-la-la, it includes me
Ooh-sha-la-la, it infuses a craving for life
A craving for love
It’s the music of my adolescence
Transistor radio transcendence
Ooh how it takes me there
Ooh-sha-la-la, we dig each other
and there will be so many other loves in our lives
So many loves
But oh, you better duck and cover
some heavy shit’s coming down
Whoa, better hold on tight to each other
some real big boots come to kick us around
The commies could nuke us
the rednecks could shoot us
There are riots in the city
say good buy to the hippies
Uncle Sam wants us
Viet Nam haunts us
These drugs make it better
These drugs make us deader
Yeah this music is magic
Doesn’t really need to go anywhere
It spins in eternity
Ooh-sha-la-la, play it for me
Play it when you need to dream of the loves in your life
All the loves in your life
But oh, you better duck and cover
some heavy shit’s coming down
Whoa, better hold on tight to each other
some real big boots come to kick us around
The welfare state enslaves us
The market will save us
No the market enslaves us
The welfare state could save us
The priests want to turn us
Holy men want to burn us
The world is our playground
The world belongs to ravenous hounds
It’s a rebel’s music
Love how it gooses me
Let’s do some goosing together
Ooh-sha-la-la, be my rebel
Ooh-sha-la-la, don’t say no, say you will, say you will
Be my rebel, don’t say no
Be my rebel, don’t say no
Please, please say you will

Arts & Science
03:31
|
|||
Science puts us to shame
takes effete artistes right out of the game
With our navel gazing reveries
regurgitated philosophies
pop culture banalities
science takes us out of the game
Science puts us to shame
makes sure the world
is never the same
With those miracle medications
nuclear detonations
biogenetic permutations
the world is never the same
Science puts us to shame
No matter what we make
we’re barely in the game
Never stare at a painting that can tell you where you’re waiting
Never contemplate a poem that can carbon date a bone
Never read a book that can see what drugs you took
Never hum a tune that can jump you to the moon
Is there is no kind of fiction that can
generate the necessary friction
Science puts us to shame
takes effete artistes right out of the game
With solutions for problems it causes
buttons to get us through the pauses
always looking for ways to prolong us
science keeps us in the game
Science puts us to shame
while art fans imaginary flames
Makes you wonder why
Maybe makes you want to cry
Might make you dance like a banshee all night
Art fans imaginary flames
Science puts us to shame
No matter what we make
we’re barely in the game
Never stare at a painting that can tell you where you’re waiting
Never contemplate a poem that can carbon date a bone
Never read a book that can see what drugs you took
Never hum a tune that can jump you to the moon
Is there is no kind of fiction that can
generate the necessary friction
Science puts us to shame
Makes sure the world is never the same
But maybe, maybe, maybe
maybe we’re still in the game

State of the Union
03:57

This sea is so beautiful
you need to share it with somebody
Better mind who you turn to
This can be a dangerous country
It’s not the gangstas or the junkies
or illegal immigrants
It’s the Good Old Boys and their flunkies
the gun dealers and their friends
The Good Old Boys and their siege mentality
make it a dangerous country
This sky is so mysterious
you need to solve it with somebody
Better mind who you trust
This can be a troubling country
It’s not the Muslims or LGBTQ
It’s not the left wing vipers
It’s the Good Old Boys with their
propagandized news
Their bullies, their bashers, and their bribers
The Good Old Boys’ and their conspiracy theories
make it a troubling country
These people seem so nice
you’ll get along if you’re not grumpy
Better mind who you like
This can be a disheartening country
It’s not the old and scruffy
the freeloaders who gobble up your taxes
It’s those who could but still do nothing
while the Good Old Clear Cut Boys swing their axes
The Good Old Boys, their talking heads and do-nothings
make it a disheartening country
The desert is such a great trip
you need to make it with somebody
Find an oasis and take a dip
This is still a beautiful country
It’s not the captains of industry
Its not the good old boys
It’s the people who set each other free
The folks who make a brilliant noise
The people who set our minds free
make this a beautiful country

T-Rex-T

T Rex, Rex T
big time figures of history
From sixty-five million years ago
on up to this day, here’s what we know
T- Rex boss dinosaur,
largest ever carnivore
Supreme predator
Tyrannosaurus king dinosaur
Rex-T boss of ExxonMobil
largest ever supplier of oil
Supreme climate change denier
Rex Tillerson big time oil supplier
Then came an asteroid
and the atmosphere was destroyed
Dust and debris blocked out the sun
The dinosaurs time had come
Exxon scientists foretold
burning fossil fuels would melt the poles
So they bought oil leases where the ice would melt and
built drilling platforms to out-rise the swells
T Rex, Rex T
big time figures of history
From sixty-five million years ago
on up to this day, here’s what we know
Oxygen went first then everything green
Herbivores perished with the grass and leaves
T-Rex ran out of critters to eat
Carnivores chomped on each other’s meat
Rex-T and his friends funded institutes
to cast climate change into disrepute
They used their financial and political might
to make sure nobody could put up a fight
So here’s to Ayn Rand and her virtue of selfishness
Paul Ryan, Mike Pompeo, the Koch brothers and Trump
Here’s to the hell they’ve conspired to sentence us
Here’s to toxic plastic ocean dumps
T-Rex only acted as nature dictated
Rex-T and the rest perfected laissez faire
We can’t let these guys get away with this
If there’s such place as heaven they should not be let in there
T Rex, Rex T
big time figures of history
From sixty-five million years ago
on up to this day, here’s what we know
Rex-T and his friends came out really well and
we get a cataclysm
Even if they don’t burn in hell they should
surely do time in prison

A Serious Girl
02:45
|
|||
You were such a serious girl
Always so good, did what you should
Would’ve been lost without you
It was all about you
I’m the luckiest lover in the world
Sometimes memories are a jailhouse
Sometimes memories are everything
That’s all there is
Hey sweet lady, I’m hoping you might maybe
come out with me to see the eclipse moon
Please sweet baby, don’t go if you can’t take me
Don’t slip away so soon, no not so soon.
I would never ask you not to cry
You should rage at this, the unfairness of it
A hard part for me is the uncertainty
I’m not going to know
Won’t know when to say goodbye
Sometimes hope is quicksand
Sometimes hope is everything
That’s all there is
Hey sweet lady, I’m hoping you might maybe
come out with me to see the eclipse moon
Please sweet baby, don’t go if you can’t take me
Don’t slip away so soon, no not so soon
You were such a serious girl
Always so good, did what you should
Would’ve been lost without you
It was all about you
I’m the luckiest lover in the world

Destinations (live)

I could meet ya in Costa Rica
Away, away, hooray, hey let’s go
An eclectic cuisine and no army
it’s a zip line economy
But I won’t see ya in North Korea
No way, no way, don’t want to live there
Forced labour retreats for class enemies
it’s the marching-est society
Away, away
oh wherever shall we go
Oh where, oh where, can we
learn how to build a good home
I’d run as fast as I can out of Iran
Away, away, away I would go
The clerics make you pray, watch out if you’re gay
and don’t be a woman with something to say
You liked what you saw in South Africa
Away, away, hooray, hey let’s go
In Brazil, Japan and Malawi
you can worship your favourite celebrities
Away, away
oh wherever shall we go
Oh where, oh where, can we
learn how to build a good home
Let’s not emulate the United States
No way, no way, it’s not really that great
Too many guns and kids in deep in need
Repunklicans and unbridled greed
Oh Canada, what have you done
Away, away, oh where did you go
Your colonial ways are still a disgrace
and you’re losing yourself to the marketplace
Away, away
oh wherever shall we go
Oh where, oh where, can we
learn how to build a good home
We like to be in good company
Away, away, hooray, hey let’s go
We could puzzle out what needs to be done
to build a good home for everyone
before planet earth is engulfed by the sun
Away, away
oh wherever shall we go

Ooh, ooh, ooh, you should be sleeping
Ooh, ooh, you know it’s for the best
Ooh, ooh, you take care of sleeping
let us look after the rest
We won’t let the boogie man get you
We won’t let the cat steal your breath
So good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bugs bite
close your eyes and try to forget
Ooh, ooh, ooh, you should be sleeping
Ooh, ooh, you know it’s for the best
Ooh, ooh, you take care of sleeping
let us look after the rest
You don’t want to go outside, there’s a wind on the rise
rip the skin right from your bones
But the sandman’s here to dry up your tears
You’ve got nothing to fear, you won’t be sleeping alone
Oh no, but you should be sleeping
Ooh, ooh, you know it’s for the best
Ooh, ooh, you take care of sleeping
let us look after the rest
Nobody said tomorrow would be brighter
Those in the know are singing the blues
But you sleep sound, safe and warm
we’ll keep watch through the storm and
wake you when it’s all through
You don’t want to go outside, there’s a wind on the rise
rip the skin right from your bones
But the sandman’s here to dry up your tears
You’ve got nothing to fear, you won’t be sleeping alone
Oh, no. Hey what are you doing up? Don’t worry sweetheart everything will be just fine. Come on, we’ll take you back to bed and get you a little drink of water. You can read a chapter of your favourite book, we’ll on your night light, and you can go back to sleep.
You take care of sleeping
let us look after the
Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bugs bite
close your eyes and try to forget
Goodnight
